7th June 08 - "Smudger through to the last 32 in Bolton!"
SMUDGER competed in the UK Open finals in Bolton this weekend. He defeated Jamie Caven 6-4 in his first game and then Andy Jenkins 9-7 to reach the last 32 of the competition. Steve then lost out 9-6 to the in form Simon Whatley. This run earns Steve a further £2,000 for his order of merit.
24th March 08 - "Smudger defeats Manley & Dudbridge in Germany" - SMUDGER defeated both Peter "One Dart" Manley & Mark "Flash" Dudbridge in Germany this weekend. He defeated Dudbridge 3-0 (sets) at Saturdays event & Manley 3-2 (sets) on Sunday. However, Steve was unlucky not to advance further in the competitions as he narrowly lost 3-2 to Darren Latham on Saturday & Matt Clark 3-0 on Sunday.
24th February 08 - "SMUDGER WINS ESSEX OPEN!"
Steve Smith takes the top prize of £1,000 at the 2008 Essex Open, held at Ford Sports & Social Club. The final was was won convincingly 4-0 against Essex County man Darren Peetoom.See video footage of Steve's Semi & Final wins here
1st December 07 - "SMUDGER reaches the last 32 in Germany!" - Steve made it to the last 32 in Germany this weekend, at the PartyPoker.net German Darts Championship. He defeated fellow Essex player, Steve Maish, 3-2 in sets in what was a brilliant game. He then defeated Marek Brommelhaus 3-0 in sets before being defeated by the Current World Champion, Raymond Van Barneveld 3-0. Despite the scoreline, it was a great performance by Smudger who averaged almost 100 in his defeat!
5th November 07 - "SMUDGER back & on form!" - Steve made his return to the PDC circuit this weekend after a few months off, and he was on form. He reached the last 32 at the Players Championship in Killarney before being defeated by the in form player; Wayne Mardle. He defeated Henry O'Neil 3-0, Vidal Pugales 3-0 and Mick McGowan 3-2 in sets before losing out to last weeks pro tour event winner in Germany.
27th August 07 - "SMUDGER WINS LONDON MASTERS!" - Steve Smith takes the top prize of £900 in the inaugural London Darts Masters held at Tithe Farm last weekend. The final was a close affair between PDC players Kevin McDine and Steve, both of whom beat Middlesex countyplayers Jim Byrne and George McKie respectively. The event was a complete success with many other top players in attendance including Mark Walsh and Alan Caves.
23rd July 07 - "Last 16 in Blackpool!" - SMUDGER reached the last 16 at the Bobby Bourne Memorial Trophy in Blackpool this weekend before losing to the winner of the tournament; World number 1 Phil "The Power" Taylor. He defeated Aaron Turner(3-0 in sets), Chris Mason(3-1) and Kevin Mcdine(3-2) before he met "The Power".
3rd July 07 - "SMUDGER qualifies in Veags for the second year running!" - SMUDGER has qualified for the 2007 Las Vegas Desert Classic today, just as he did this time last year. He defeated Ron Peppers 4-1, Jim Williams 4-1, Mark Walsh 4-3 before finally seeing off Alan Warriner-Little in his final game for the second successive year 4-2.

7th June 07 - "SMUDGER STILL RISING" - In the Official PDC World rankings, Steve Smith is now ranked at 51st place, he travels to the UK Open in Bolton this weekend hoping to do well and break into the top 48.
20th May 07 - "SMUDGER reaches the last 32 in the US" - SMUDGER reached the last 32 at the US Open this weekend before he narrowly lost to semi-finalist Andy Hamilton 3-2 (in sets). He defeated Dennis McDonald 3-0 in the first round before defeating Robert Given 3-0 in the second and then Isen Veljic 3-1 in the last 64.

11th February 07 - "SMUDGER reaches the Quarters!!" - SMUDGER reached the quarter finals in Bristol this weekend, at the BLUE SQ. Bet South West UK regional final. He defeated some big names along the way including; Tony Martin, Andy Smith & Mick McGowan!

3rd January 07 - "SMUDGER ON THE RISE" - The Official PDC World rankings were released today following the Ladbrokes.com World Championship. SMUDGER has now risen to 62nd place.
11th December 06 - The schedule of play is out for the Ladbrokes.com World Championship which sees Steve Smith take on Denis Ovens in the 1st round on day 2, fourth game on. This is scheduled to start at 4.00pm on Sky Sports 1.
